Community Initiatives

The City of Leduc is committed to providing its residents with opportunities and services that promote a rewarding and fulfilling lifestyle. The community continues to create new initiatives, programs and facilities to give residents ample choice when it comes to living large in a smaller city.

LRC encourages kids to lead active, healthy lifestyles through wellness assessments, education initiatives, activities, and special events provided at the Leduc Recreation Centre. Sign up for the Online Activity Tracker at www.leduc.ca/LRC to monitor and track activity levels. Members can then view the activity level of the community as a whole and track their personal progress. It’s a great initiative that aims to keep kids involved in health-focused activities throughout their elementary, junior high and high school years.

MNP Kicks for Kids is a drop-in opportunity at the Leduc Recreation Centre for youth between the ages of 8—17. It’s a great way to stay active, have fun, hang out with friends and meet new people. Kicks for Kids runs after school from 3:30 pm to 4:45 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and best of all it’s free! Activities include indoor soccer, lacrosse, ball hockey, basketball, volleyball, badminton and much more. For more information, please contact the Leduc Recreation Centre at 780-980-7120.

Rock the Rails is an annual youth festival that takes place at the Leduc Skate Park. Last year’s event featured the following:

  • Skateboard, BMX and scooter competitions
  • Xtreme Inflatable play-zones, including a waterslide
  • Resource fair,
  • Graffiti art camp

Neighbourhood Block Parties are a great opportunity for community members to have fun, enjoy a warm summer’s evening together and get to know each other a little better. Selected residential streets in Leduc communities are permitted to throw block parties. To organize your own block party, check out the Neighbourhood Block Party Kit or phone the Community Development & Culture department at 780-980-7166.
